A major disturbing factor for the normal hair growth in the phase between the removal and re-planting of the FUs is delayed hair growth. To avoid an unnecessarily high loss of FUs in this phase, Moser Medical profited from the observations and research in the area of organ transplantation. The research results were published in one of the world's most important medical journals (Dermatology Surgery, 2005).
The research team developed an own storage solution that worked against delayed hair growth - the Storage Solution. This in contrast to other hospitals is not a saline solution. The FUs are stored in this storage solution, then after their removal and partial distribution up until the transplantation. They are stabilized during storage time and biochemically protected against adverse environmental influences. Therefore, the metabolism of the hair follicles is not affected and hair growth is promoted after the transplantation.
The patients of Moser Medical can therefore rely on faster and stronger hair growth.
In 2005 the research laboratory of Moser Medical in Vienna managed to produce hair follicles with the help of biotechnology. The new formation of hair follicles could be realized by the introduction of hair follicle cells in skin preparations, which -treated by the appropriate machinery- could develop to mature hair follicles. The results were published in the internationally recognized journal Experimental Dermatology, 2005. These published results are the basis for therapeutic approaches to cell therapy for hair loss. Based on this, new treatment methods against hair loss can be developed in the future.
Nevertheless hair cloning will only happen in the future. The Moser Hospital will play a leading role here again. The cooperation with Beiersdorf AG includes the theme hair cloning as a goal of the research cooperation.
